02 — HOW IT WORKS
Two paths, one platform. Select your role below to walk through the process step by step.
Describe the work needed, set your budget range, and pick your preferred time window. It takes under 3 minutes and is completely free — no credit card required at any point.
Within hours, verified tradespeople in your area submit quotes. You can review each pro's trade licence, insurance certificate, past reviews, and response rate before deciding.
Accept a bid by submitting a secure deposit to lock in your pro. Your payment is held safely in our escrow vault — and is not released to the tradesperson until you approve the completed work. You are always in control.
Your pro arrives and completes the job. All communication and progress is tracked in-app. If the scope changes, the tradesperson submits a change order — both parties must approve before any additional work begins.
Happy with the work? Approve it in-app and funds are released from escrow to the tradesperson instantly. Same-day bank transfer. If there's an issue, Fulcrum's resolution team steps in before any money moves.
A quick star rating and a few words go a long way. Your review builds the pro's verified reputation on the platform, helps future homeowners make informed decisions, and unlocks loyalty rewards for both of you.
Create your Fulcrum profile in under 5 minutes. Add your trade, province, and a short bio. No commitment at this stage — you're just setting up your profile before verification begins.
Upload your trade licence for your province and your Commercial General Liability insurance certificate. Our team manually verifies both documents, and your COI expiry is tracked automatically going forward.
A fast, non-invasive background check processed by Certn — Canada's leading background screening provider. The check typically completes within 24 to 48 hours and is a one-time requirement.
Tell Fulcrum exactly when you want to work. Full-time, rotational work such as 2 weeks on/2 weeks off, or weekends only — you control the calendar entirely. There are no minimum hours and no penalties for blocking weeks off at a time.
See jobs in your area matched to your trade and availability. Submit quotes at your own rates. You only pay commission when you get paid — there are no pay-per-lead fees, ever.
Once the homeowner approves your completed work, funds are released from escrow and hit your bank account the same day via direct bank transfer. No waiting 30 days for a cheque. No chasing invoices.
GOT QUESTIONS?
Fulcrum currently supports Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Carpentry, Automotive, and Roofing. Additional trades including masonry, landscaping, painting, and general contracting are planned for Phase 2. If your trade isn't listed, apply anyway — we review all applications.
When you approve a quote, you must submit a deposit before the job can begin. This payment is held in a secure escrow account — not released to the tradesperson until you confirm the work is complete. If there's a dispute, Fulcrum's resolution team reviews the case. Funds are never released without homeowner approval.
The tradesperson submits a change order through the app. Both parties must approve the revised quote before additional work begins. This protects homeowners from surprise bills and protects tradespeople from scope creep without compensation. No additional work can be billed without mutual written approval.
Every tradesperson carries their own Commercial General Liability insurance (minimum $2M per occurrence) with Fulcrum Connections Incorporated named as additional insured. For homeowners who added the Fulcrum Guarantee (5% add-on), we'll send another verified pro to fix the issue within 90 days at no cost — up to a $2,500 cap.
Every tradesperson goes through three verification layers: (1) trade licence for their province is checked against provincial databases, (2) Commercial General Liability insurance certificate verified with expiry tracking, and (3) background check processed by Certn. Workers who lose their licence or let insurance lapse are automatically suspended.
Fulcrum is currently launching in British Columbia and Alberta, with Saskatchewan and Manitoba planned for Phase 2. We're built Canada-first — our licence verification and compliance framework is designed around Canadian provincial regulations from the ground up.

"I built this on my weeks off. If that does not tell you how much I believe in it, I am not sure what will."
"I was a millwright. I know exactly what this platform would have meant to me. I would sign up on day one."
Fulcrum Connections was founded by two people who spent their careers on job sites — not in boardrooms. One a millwright, one an engineer. Both had worked rotational schedules in northern Canada and seen the same problem from both sides: skilled tradespeople with real downtime and no structured way to use it, and homeowners struggling to find anyone qualified enough to trust.
The existing options weren't built for this. Most platforms treat trades like a side-hustle marketplace — no licence checks, no accountability, no understanding of how the industry actually works. We built something different from the ground up: a verified network where credentials are confirmed before anyone takes a single job, and where the work speaks for itself.
Every feature on this platform was built with input from working tradespeople. Licence verification is mandatory. Payments are protected until the job is done. It is a Canadian platform, built for Canadian trades, by founders who came up through that world.
THE OPPORTUNITY
North American home services market. Fragmented, underdigitized, and ripe for a trust-first platform.
Skilled trades professionals in North America. An untapped workforce of rotational shift workers, independents, and semi-retirees.
Total addressable market in a single Canadian metro at 1% penetration. Three to five metros represent a $100M+ opportunity.
WE'VE DONE OUR HOMEWORK
Here's how we've addressed each one.
Platform bypass — customers booking direct after meeting through the app
Escrow and payment protection only available in-platform. Repeat-booking incentives via loyalty credits. Insurance coverage explicitly voids if work is done off-platform.
Cold start problem — need supply and demand simultaneously
Supply-first strategy. Recruit 200 tradespeople at 0% commission before homeowner launch. Founders manually broker the first 100 jobs to prove two-sided value without relying on the platform.
Pricing and scope disputes — job complexity changes mid-work
Mandatory in-app change orders requiring mutual approval before any additional work begins. Dispute resolution team reviews all escalated cases. Clear audit trail of all approvals.
Seasonal demand swings — winter drops in outdoor trades
Diversified trade mix (indoor trades like HVAC and plumbing peak in winter). Proactive demand generation campaigns in slow seasons. Cash flow reserve modeled at 40% seasonal variance.
Quality control and brand damage — one bad job going viral
Three-layer vetting (licence, insurance, background check). Post-job reviews are mandatory before payment releases. Workers below a 4.2-star average are placed on hold pending review.
Payment disputes and chargebacks — customers bypassing platform dispute resolution
Escrow model means deposits are collected upfront but only released once the job is approved — minimizing chargeback vectors. Stripe's dispute tooling used with documented approval flow as evidence. Chargeback reserve maintained.
Worker burnout — high-quality tradespeople leaving due to poor job matching
Preference-based job matching (trade type, distance, job size, minimum rate). Tradespeople can flag and block job types they dislike. Response time SLAs ensure pros aren't bombarded with unsuitable leads.
Commission pressure — high-volume workers pushing back on the take rate
Tiered commission model (15% → 12% → 10%) makes the path to lower rates clear. 0% for the first job creates a loss-leader acquisition period. Commission calculator in the app makes earnings transparent.
Province-by-province regulatory complexity — different licencing rules per province
Compliance matrix built per province at launch. Ontario and BC first (most aligned regulatory frameworks). Legal counsel retained in each province. Licence verification system built with province-specific rules.
Liability and legal exposure — determining responsibility when work causes damage
Worker's CGL (named additional insured) is primary coverage for workmanship claims. Platform Terms of Service clearly establish independent contractor relationship. Platform liability capped via contract. Legal fund of $50K reserved.
COVERAGE ARCHITECTURE
THE PLAN
Recruit 100 verified tradespeople across British Columbia and Alberta. Zero commission — founders absorb the cost. Manually broker the first 50 jobs to prove two-sided demand before platform automation.
Homeowner-facing launch in key target markets. Localized ads, community geo-targeting, and insurance broker partnerships as a referral channel. Target 500 completed jobs to establish stable unit economics.
Expand to 2–3 additional Western Canadian metros. Introduce City Launcher roles. Focus on seasonal cash flow stabilization and rollout of the Fulcrum Guarantee product.
Methodical expansion eastward into Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and eventually Ontario. Ensure the province-by-province compliance framework is battle-tested before entering highly regulated eastern markets.
INVESTOR RELATIONS
Fulcrum is currently in pre-seed stage, focused on proving unit economics across two Canadian metros before a Series A raise. If you're interested in learning more, reach out below.
